FOX Bet Review and Welcome Bonus

Coming to the marketplace in late August 2019, FOX Bet, formerly known as BetStars, opened its virtual doors just in time for the kickoff of the NFL season. With the rebranding, it doesn’t take long to notice how improved the brand is, starting with the mobile app design and the implementation of the FOX Sports personalities.

Licensed and regulated in the state of New Jersey by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, is FOX Bet the new best online sportsbook in New Jersey? Let’s take a look.

FOX Bet Welcome Bonus - How to Claim

FOX Bet’s welcome offer comes in two-parts: Registration and deposit. For the registration portion, you simply will receive $20 free when you sign up. Next, you will receive a 100 percent match on deposits up to $100. You must use this bonus money on wagers of -200 odds or greater.

Registration

The registration process is quick, but it could be condensed. When you sign up, there are a few quick steps, which ask for a username/password, email and agreeing to the terms of service.

Then, you will be brought to another registration process that is also quick and asks for additional personal information related to real-money wagers such as your name, gender, date of birth, last four of your social security number and telephone number. This is all to assist in identifying you as a customer.

Desktop/Mobile Experience

While there is a website for FOX Bet, the main online sportsbook platform is found via mobile apps for both Android and iOS. Up front, this app is incredibly designed—perhaps the best we’ve seen. All of the different options on the app are even proportioned and they all have the correct amount of space on the interface.

The top of the app has filters for the different sports and links to promotions, results and a drop-down menu for how you’d like to display odds. Just below that there are unique bet options that are related to FOX Sports personalities. For example, there is one related to NFL analyst Cris Carter. The bet is represented as his concept, and it is “Odell Beckham Jr. 100+ receiving yards” and has +200 odds. These graphics do alternate with different options, too.

Below this, you’ll see boosted bets (usually in the form of parlays) and the “#CustomBet” section which are not only created by FOX Bet, but users can also make suggestions by tweeting at FOX Bet.

Continuing down, the different games for the respective sport is displayed, with odds for moneyline, spread and totals. Lastly, at the bottom of the app, there is a button to go to the sportsbook and also for account management.

This app is not only well put together, but has just enough color and other aesthetically pleasing qualities that it makes you want to stay on and play, which is never a bad thing.

Getting Started/New Player Info

At the bottom of the app, click on the “Account” button, then “Help”, then “Help Centre”. Once you do this, you will be at the FAQ section. Now, when you go to “Sports”, you will find four pages filled with information pertaining to betting on sports and other things such as important definitions. It can be a bit difficult to find for new players, but with enough poking around it’s easily accessible.

Sports and Markets Available

FOX Bet offers plenty of sports to bet on, including but not limited to:

  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Boxing/UFC
  • Cricket
  • Cycling
  • Darts
  • Football
  • Golf
  • Hockey
  • Motor Sports
  • Rugby
  • Soccer
  • Tennis

Markets to bet on include:

  • Moneyline: betting on a team to win outright
  • Spread: an amount of points used in favor or against teams to make the game “even”
  • Totals: also known as over/under, you wager on if the total points will go over/under
  • Futures: betting on events that will happen at a later date
  • Parlay: placing one bet on multiple contests that all must win
  • Round Robin: a way to bet on numerous parlays
  • Teaser: manipulating point spreads, if applicable
  • Live betting: betting on games in progress
  • Custom Bets: created by FOX Bet or users
  • Boosted Bets: items artificially increased odds-wise

Betting Lines

Perhaps one of the only drawbacks are that, sometimes, the betting lines at FOX Bet can be a bit over-inflated. For example, sticking with Odell Beckham Jr.’s Cleveland Browns, the moneyline is definitely more favorable toward the favorite and not as good on FOX Bet as it is on FanDuel. We will admit this is definitely nitpicking, but for experienced players, they will odds shop if needed.

Betting Features

  • Live Betting: As mentioned in the bracketed explanation, this is really just betting on games that are already going on.
  • Cash Out: If you placed a bet and it is going downhill fast, you have the option to cash out of the bet and salvage a portion of the original wager. It will not be the entire amount, but it will be something to help keep the virtual bankroll rolling.
  • Boosted Bets: These are bets, usually in the form of parlays on FOX Bet, where the sportsbook has artificially increased the odds in the hopes of getting more action on certain things.
  • Custom Bets: This is honestly one of the more interesting things on FOX Bet. This is a section of Custom Bets that are not only created by FOX Bet, but potentially made via user suggestions on Twitter.

Overall

There’s really not much to say here other than FOX Bet could quickly become the next big online sportsbook in a state that also has rigorous competitors such as DraftKings and FanDuel. Everything about this platform is excellent. Maybe having a desktop version would be nice, but other than that, there’s really nothing bad to say here. Go check out FOX Bet if you’re in the Garden State.
